Preacher: SUPERIOR EVANGELIST AKIN ARIKAWE
1st Lesson – Amos 5:10-17
2nd Lesson – Luke 13:1-9
Repentance and Obedience
God calls us to turn from idolatry and disobedience, as seen in the warning from Amos. If we don’t change our ways, the consequences will follow. Acts 3:19 (KJV)
Self-Examination
We often become our own enemies by acting contrary to God’s commands. God is offended when we harm others, and we must reflect on how we live in relation to those around us.- Lamententions 3:40 (KJV)
Living in Love
To avoid God’s wrath, we must do good and treat others as we wish to be treated, following the teachings of Jesus (Luke 13:1-5).-
Bearing Fruit and Serving:
True Christianity involves accepting fault, serving others, and contributing to the growth of God’s kingdom—don’t be like the barren fig tree, but actively bear fruit for God’s GLORY. John 15:8 (KJV)
Three Key Lessons to Remember
- Obedience leads to favor–Ignoring God’s warnings brings consequences, but repentance and obedience align us with His will and blessings.
- Personal Accountability – We must examine our actions and attitudes, ensuring they reflect God’s love and righteousness in how we treat others.
- Faith Requires Action – Being a believer isn’t just about words; it’s about serving, growing, and making a positive impact, just like a fruitful tree in God’s kingdom.

Practical Steps to Seeking the Lord in 2025
Examine Your Life
- Reflect on your actions in the past year. What areas need improvement? What sins need
repentance? - As stated in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the
faith.”
Make Peace with Others
- Many of us are our own enemies because we harbor unforgiveness and bitterness.
- Jesus commands us in Matthew 18:21-22 to forgive “seventy times seven.” Without
forgiveness, our prayers may go unanswered.
Do Good and Avoid Evil (Amos 5:14-15)
- Treat others with kindness, fairness, and love.
- Let your actions reflect the golden rule in Matthew 7:12: “Do unto others as you would
have them do unto you.”
Develop a Consistent Prayer and Bible Study Life
- Seek God through daily prayer and meditation on His word
- As James 4:8 reminds us: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
Be Fruitful for the Kingdom (Luke 13:6-9)
- Just as the fig tree was expected to bear fruit, God expects us to be productive in His
vineyard. - Get involved in church activities, use your talents to serve God, and be a blessing to
others.
