Sermon Title: The Impotency of Human Devices Against God’s Counsel
Categories: Faith, Sovereignty of God, Christian Living
Tags: God’s Counsel, Human Efforts, Divine Will, Spiritual Warfare, Psalm 92, Christian Encouragement
Memory Verse
Proverbs 19:21 (KJV) – “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”
This verse sets the tone for the entire message—human beings may plot, plan, and strategize, but it is only the will and counsel of God that will ultimately prevail.
Introduction: The Battle Between Human Will and Divine Counsel
Human beings are naturally inclined to make plans, pursue ambitions, and sometimes act in opposition to God’s will. We often see the powerful and influential strategizing for their own gain, sometimes even against the children of God. However, Scripture assures us that no plan, no device, and no human scheme can overthrow God’s divine will.
Understanding the Vain Devices of Man
The sermon makes it clear: “Why are people strategizing over vain things?” From family to workplace, even within spiritual circles, there are those who conspire, compete, or obstruct. These strategies may seem effective temporarily, but they are ultimately futile when they contradict God’s plan.
Psalm 92:2 reinforces this truth: “Whoever rises against you is fighting God.” This is not a statement of pride but of divine protection. When you are aligned with God’s purpose, any opposition you face is not merely personal—it is a challenge against the very counsel of heaven.
The Divine Dynamic: As You Rise, Enemies Fall
There is a spiritual reality embedded in divine elevation: “The moment you are rising, your enemy begins to decrease.” This statement carries both encouragement and warning. It means God’s hand upon your life provokes the downfall of those who stand in opposition—not because of who you are, but because of whose you are.
This reminds us of the many biblical figures—Joseph, Daniel, Esther—who experienced elevation in the face of opposition. In all cases, it was God’s counsel that stood, not the devices of man.
Declarations and Prayer Points
Prayer 1: Every delayed promise shall be accelerated.
We declare that all the promises of God that seem delayed in your life will begin to manifest. The God of speed will bring restoration and fulfillment.
Prayer 2: The power and will of God shall override the will of the enemy.
No matter the scheming of men, let the will of the Lord override and neutralize every negative agenda against your destiny.

Conclusion: Rest in God’s Sovereignty
As believers, our confidence is not in our connections or plans, but in the unshakable counsel of God. The devices of man are limited by time, power, and wisdom—but God’s counsel is eternal, omniscient, and all-powerful.
Whatever battle you’re facing, remember: God’s will always prevails. Stand firm, stay faithful, and trust in His divine process.
Final Reflection
In a world full of schemes, manipulations, and power struggles, the children of God must remain grounded in this truth—no force can stand against the counsel of the Lord. Let us draw closer to Him, trust His process, and rest in the assurance that His plans for us are for good, not for evil. Let every heart declare with faith: “Your will be done, Lord, not mine.”
