Preacher: AVSE Babatunde Bejide
1st Lesson : Amos 9:11-15
2nd Lesson: Luke 17:22-37
Introduction
The Second Coming of Christ is a message of hope, urgency, and reflection. In today’s lessons, we are reminded of God’s unchanging promises to restore and redeem His people, as well as the need for vigilance and readiness in awaiting Christ’s glorious return. Let us dive into God’s Word to understand the profound truths about His ultimate plan for humanity.
1st Lesson: God’s Promise of Restoration (Amos 9:11-15)
The passage in Amos speaks of God’s enduring promise to restore the tabernacle of David and His people. Despite judgment, God’s mercy ensures a future of abundance and peace. The vineyards will flourish, the cities will be rebuilt, and the people will dwell securely in God’s everlasting presence. This message reassures us that God’s restoration is both physical and spiritual, culminating in His ultimate plan through Christ.
2nd Lesson: The Urgency of Readiness (Luke 17:22-37)
Jesus warns of His sudden return, likening it to the days of Noah and Lot, when people were caught unaware while living their daily lives. The emphasis is clear—His coming will be swift, unmistakable, and it will separate those who are ready from those who are not. This lesson calls us to live with a heart fully surrendered to God, free from worldly distractions.
Key Insights
- Hope in God’s Faithfulness: Just as God promised restoration in Amos, we are assured that His plans will come to fruition.
- Living with Readiness: The warning in Luke reminds us that there is no time for complacency; our spiritual vigilance should be unwavering.
- Christ, the Fulfillment of Prophecy: Both lessons point to Christ as the center of God’s ultimate redemption plan for humanity.
Reflection
This sermon calls us to reflect deeply on our lives. Are we living with the awareness that Christ’s return is imminent? Have we accepted His restoration and aligned our lives with His Word? Let us not be like those in the days of Noah and Lot, caught unprepared. Instead, may we embrace God’s promises and live each day with purpose, faith, and readiness.
Closing Prayer
Almighty God, we thank You for the assurance of Your promises and the gift of salvation through Christ. As we await His glorious return, grant us the grace to live lives pleasing to You, filled with faith, vigilance, and hope. May Your Word guide our steps and keep us prepared for the day of our Savior’s return. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Conclusion
The Second Coming of Christ is a call to hope, preparation, and transformation. God’s promises are steadfast, and His Word is a reminder of His love and faithfulness. Let us hold fast to His truth and be ready for the day when Christ returns in glory.
