Preacher: Evang. David Ojelabi

1st Lesson : Gen 3:1-24

2nd Lesson: Romans 5:12-21

Introduction: The Power of Obedience in Redemption

Obedience to God is a fundamental principle of faith. From the beginning of creation, God has given instructions on how we should live, and our ability to obey Him determines whether we walk in His blessings or suffer the consequences of disobedience.

Redemption is available to all, but it requires submission to God’s will. The choices we make each day—whether to follow God’s path or succumb to worldly desires—determine our spiritual standing. In this message, we will explore how obedience leads to redemption, why many people fall away despite knowing the truth, and how we can remain steadfast in God’s will.

When Will God’s Time Come?

God’s appointed time can come at any moment. It could be when you are:

  • Dancing
  • Eating
  • Rejoicing
  • Sleeping
  • Fighting
  • Worshipping

Since we do not know when our time will come, we must always be prepared. This means that every action we take should be pleasing to God. We should continually pray that when God calls us, He finds us engaged in good works.

The Command to Choose Between Life and Death

Deuteronomy 30:15-16
“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.”

God has already shown us how to live righteously and possess His blessings. The choice is ours:
✅ To obey and receive life and prosperity
❌ To disobey and face destruction

However, many are distracted by temporary worldly pleasures. Some people trade their salvation for the fleeting things of this world. But we must ask ourselves: Is anything truly worth missing out on God’s kingdom?

Sin Separates Us from God

Isaiah 59:1-2
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

This verse reminds us that God’s power remains unchanged—He is always willing and able to save. However, it is our sins that create a barrier between us and Him. Today, we see a troubling trend:

  • The more people receive God’s blessings and anointing, the more they drift away from Him.
  • Prosperity sometimes leads to spiritual complacency.
  • Instead of drawing closer to God, people begin to prioritize their personal ambitions and worldly desires.

We must ask ourselves: Am I growing closer to God or drifting further away?

Examine the Fruits You Are Bearing

Deuteronomy 28
Throughout scripture, God makes it clear that our actions produce spiritual consequences. We reap what we sow.

  • If we live in obedience, we will bear good fruit—blessings, favor, and eternal life.
  • If we live in sin, we will bear corrupt fruit—suffering, curses, and ultimately separation from God.

🔹 What kind of fruits are you producing today?
🔹 Are your actions leading you closer to God’s will or further into darkness?

A word is enough for the wise. It is time to self-examine and realign ourselves with God.

Final Reflection: Where Do You Stand?

The Bible warns us against loving the world and its temporary pleasures.

  • Material wealth, fame, and earthly success mean nothing if they cost us our salvation.
  • True security comes from being in God’s will, not from earthly possessions.
  • He that dwells in the will of God abides forever.

Many people start their Christian journey with zeal but eventually allow distractions to pull them away. The question remains:
Are you still abiding in God’s will?

If Jesus were to return today, what would He find in your hands? Would He see you walking in obedience or lost in worldly distractions?

Conclusion & Prayer

As we conclude this sermon, take a moment to reflect. Are you living in obedience? Are there areas in your life where you have strayed from God’s commands?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your word and the reminder that obedience leads to redemption. Forgive us for the times we have strayed, and help us to remain steadfast in Your will. Strengthen us to resist worldly temptations and choose righteousness daily. May we bear good fruits and be counted among those who abide in You forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God help us to walk in obedience and remain steadfast in His will. Amen.
